O hře
The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age uvádí zcela nové postavy, které se nevyskytují v knihách ani filmech. Hra se k filmové trilogii váže začleněním scén ze všech tří filmů s novým komentářem Iana McKellena (Gandalf). Sedm hratelných postav vytvořených speciálně pro tuto hru je doplněno krátkými vložkami postav jako Gandalf, Aragorn, Éowyn, Faramir a Gothmog. Jde o klasické RPG se hratelností podobnou Final Fantasy: skupina postav s různými schopnostmi a vlastnostmi získává úrovně a sílí. Bitvy jsou tahové a nabízejí různé taktické volby. Hra prochází mnoha oblastmi Tolkienova Středozemě, včetně Pelennorských polí a Morie.
